Ace overcomes his fear of the winged animals and returns Shikaka to the tribes. He is later captured and punished by the now united tribes. Although Cadby leaves in a car he loses Shikaka during the chase. Ace escapes arrest with the help of an elephant and rallies the rest of the animals of the jungle to stop Cadby from making his own escape.
Cadby has Ace arrested once the detective reveals the truth.
Cadby took the bat and brought Ace in to put everyone off his own trail. If the tribes destroy each other Cadby will have access to the bat caves they protect and the special guano inside that can be made into expensive fertilizer. After several false leads and trouble from both tribes he spiritually consults the head of the monastery who helps him find out that the thief is Greenwall's boss Vincent Cadby, head of the British consulate in the African country. Ace takes the case in spite of a severe phobia of bats and goes to Africa to begin investigating. This bat was intended as a dowry gift for the Wachootoo tribe and without it the tenuous peace between the tribes is in danger of falling apart. Greenwall wants Ace to locate a missing large white bat called Shikaka that has religious meaning to the African Wachati tribe. Renowned for his bizarre skills with animals and haunted by a recent failure Ace Ventura, pet detective, exiles himself to a Tibetan monastery in the sequel film "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls." His presence is unwelcome and so the head of the monastery sends Ace away with a British government man from a post in Africa, Fulton Greenwall, who has a potential job for him.
